The Black Rat is a cyclosportive in Bristol and Monmouthshire and it is one of the most popular sportives in the southwest.
Our 2027 event date is Sunday 23rd May
We have two routes to choose from, a Granfondo route of 160km and a Mediofondo route of 101km. Both routes take in some of the best of Monmouthshire and Powys and the Granfondo event takes riders up Gospel Pass, the highest road in Wales.
Up to split point where Granfondo riders head to Gospel Pass, the route is completely new. For Mediofondo riders, the majority of the return route is also on completely new roads that our Sportive has not taken previously.

From Chepstow, follow the A466 past the racecourse to St Arvans. After passing the Piercefiled pub, take the left turn on to Devauden Road. Follow this road for 4.6km until you reach Devauden. Hood Memorial Hall is 30m down the first turning left next to the village green. Parking will be signposted.
